Delhi’s edition flagged off by Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi at New Moti Bagh
New Delhi | April 13, 2025 — India pedaled towards a healthier future today with another enthusiastic edition of ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’, witnessing over 300 cycling events taking place simultaneously across the country.
In the national capital, the event was flagged off by Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, at New Moti Bagh. The vibrant turnout featured citizens of all ages, from enthusiastic schoolchildren to senior citizens, uniting for one purpose — fitness through fun. “Fitness is not just a goal but a lifestyle. Events like these help make that shift in a community-driven, joyful way,” said Chaturvedi, addressing the crowd before the ride began.
A Nationwide Push for Fitness
Organized under the Fit India Movement, the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative aims to reclaim public spaces for physical activity while encouraging eco-friendly practices. This Sunday, towns and cities from Guwahati to Gandhinagar and Bengaluru to Bhopal saw massive participation, with local administrations and fitness groups joining hands.From heritage rides to nature trails, every city tailored its event to local culture, bringing unique flavors to the shared mission of a fitter India

“It’s the best way to start a Sunday — exercising with friends and family, in a traffic-free, pollution-free space,” said Ananya Mehta, a 34-year-old marketing professional and regular participant.
“I brought my 10-year-old daughter along. She’s already asking when the next one is!” said senior citizen Vinod Kumar.
The Road Ahead:
The Fit India Mission team has confirmed that such events will continue every month, with a focus on increasing reach to rural and semi-urban areas. More thematic rides and school partnerships are also in the pipeline.
